An Interview with OSFest2022 Merchant Organizer Luna Lunaria by Doc Nolan

Luna Lunaria is among the more versatile 'old timers' amid our constellation of worlds. She lives a life of beauty and simplicity, but she still spans Second Life (SL), Mobius Grid, and Kitely Grid. (She also lives in that somewhat dysfunctional world known as real offline life or RL.) Luna leaped into the virtual universe in 2006, not long after the Virtual Big Bang, first establishing herself in Second Life. She still visits there a couple of times a week since she maintains the Lunaria Emporium in SL Marketplace with 420 items available for sale in that bazaar. "I sell only the highest quality original mesh, structures, and décor."

But now, Luna flies from grid to grid. You can find a lot of what she builds on Kitely Online Market. And "to see my large-scale art projects and mesh items, visit my ‘OpenSimulator’ region on Mobius grid!"

Luna, who admits that she has had a fondness for building castles for years, says, "Castle Ceridwen is the next venue featured in my line of venues. Castles were the first structures I created in SL back in the mid-2000s and have since changed and evolved as my skills improved. Castle Ceridwen is the latest iteration of one of my favorites. I intended it to evoke the fantasy and mystery of the Moon Goddess, by whatever name she is called. The castle contains many hidden treasures."

Beyond castle-building, however, her recent work includes an ongoing project she calls "Star Empress Steampunk Airship." She explains, "This began life in SL ten years ago, but then I brought it into ‘OpenSimulator’ and completely remodeled it. While it appears to be a vehicle, it is not scripted. Instead has a large ballroom inside the upper blimp, perfect for events where guests want to enjoy looking out over an entire region."

Though most know Luna as a builder of virtual world items, she also builds imaginary worlds out of words. She writes science fiction, specifically an epic saga called "Eos Renascent". She explains, "This is a story rooted in the life of Aletheia. "She is Aletheia, the first and last of an ancient race, trapped on a dying world among a people who once revered her as a goddess but who have long since forgotten their own myths. Once again, the century turns, and she makes yet another pilgrimage to the ruins of her ancient home to walk among its ghosts and to curse the tomb of their Destroyer. But on this day, the tomb is empty, robbed of its inhabitant along with the sword she had slain him with." Luna goes on, "Maeia, an oracle and deadly assassin from a secret sisterhood, has been tasked by the Imperator with opening a sealed sarcophagus impaled with a mysteriously beautiful sword. From what dim era of the past had it emerged, and what was the horror she sensed still trapped inside its mummified body? It was time to remove the sword and take a closer look." For more, well, ask Luna. She has the keys.

"I am creating based on my background in art, design, and ancient languages. My goal and my hope is the world of Eos and its people will capture your imagination and resonate within you on a deep level – that you will feel their lives as if they truly lived, for I have always felt their presence and heard their voice."

You can meet Luna in world at #OSFest2022! She is part of the #OSFest2022 team as Merchant Organizer, is active in the #OSFest discord server and manages the MeWe group.
